Oil product pumping and recovery

Selective oil product pumping is an in situ method used to collect the free-floating oil product phase (LNAPL) from groundwater remediation wells. The process uses an automatic pneumatic skimmer system with a floating intake that follows fluctuations in the groundwater level and pumps oil products off the water surface. The system runs on compressed air, giving controlled and selective product collection with minimal water uptake.

Vacuum extraction is an in situ remediation technology used to clean up contaminated soil and groundwater while recovering both the liquid and the gaseous contaminant phase. Vacuum units and remediation wells installed in the ground create reduced pressure, which draws oil products, contaminated groundwater and contaminated soil gas out of the remediation zone. The method is particularly suited to sites where free-phase oil, contaminated groundwater and volatile contaminants all need to be reduced at the same time.

Dual Phase Extraction (DPE) is a technology that extracts the liquid phase (groundwater and oil products) and the gas phase from the soil pores at the same time. The vacuum draws contamination out of both the saturated and the unsaturated soil zone.

Multi-Phase Extraction (MPE) is a remediation method that recovers several contaminant phases at once: free-floating oil products, contaminated groundwater and soil gas. Vacuum systems make it possible to reduce contaminant concentrations in different soil layers and limit their migration.
