Cookie policy

This policy explains which cookies the website venteko.com uses (in all its language versions) and how you can control them. The use of cookies is the responsibility of JSC "VentEko" (AS "VentEko"), registration No. 41203008864, registered address: Dārzu iela 2, Ventspils, LV-3601, Latvia ("VentEko", "we"). How we process personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit it. They let the site remember, for example, that an editor is logged in or your cookie choice.

Under Section 7.1 of the Latvian Information Society Services Law, the site may set necessary cookies without your consent, because it cannot work or stay secure without them. The site sets analytics cookies only with your consent.

2. Which cookies we use

The site uses cookies in these categories:

  • Necessary cookies protect the site against bots and attacks, keep editors logged in and remember your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off.
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site (Google Analytics 4). They are set only if you accept them.

The site itself sets no advertising or marketing cookies and has no social media plugins.

Cloudflare cookies are set by Cloudflare, Inc., which provides content delivery and security for the site on our behalf. WordPress cookies are set only for site editors when they log in to the administration area; other visitors do not get them.

Google Analytics cookies are set by Google Ireland Limited, and only if you accept analytics cookies.

3. Embedded videos

News articles may contain YouTube or Vimeo videos. When you open a page with such a video or play it, these services may set their own cookies. They are not under our control and are not listed in the table; their purpose and duration are set by the providers: Google (YouTube), policies.google.com/privacy, and Vimeo, vimeo.com/privacy.

4. How to control cookies

On your first visit, the site shows a cookie banner. In it you can accept all cookies, reject all except the necessary ones, or choose by category. You can open the cookie settings again at any time with "Cookie settings" in the site footer and change your choice there. If you withdraw your consent to analytics cookies, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies (_ga*) and no longer loads Google Analytics.

Your choice is stored in the cc_cookie cookie for 182 days; after that, the cookie banner is shown again.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work properly.

5. Changes and contact

We will update this policy when the cookies used on the site change. The current version is always available on this page. Send questions about cookies to [email protected].

This policy was written in Latvian and translated into English, Lithuanian and Romanian. If the versions differ, the Latvian text prevails.
